Mississinewa Lake State Park - Gardening Place

Mississinewa Lake, located in central northeast Indiana, offers seasonal camping at the Miami State Recreation Area. Season dates run from May 1 through Oct. 31 each year.

These dates are subject to change due to weather patterns, rising lake levels, other unforeseeable events, and as deemed necessary by property management. Mississinewa Lake was designed and built by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. This map will acquaint you with the lake’s two most-used recreation areas: the Miami and Frances Slocum state recreation areas (SRA).

Mississinewa Lake Alerts (2) ROAD CLOSURE: The Old Frances Slocum Trail is closed from south of Mississinewa’s Miami State Recreation Area (SRA) to near the entrance to Red Bridge SRA. This 3,210-acre lake offers excellent fishing, hunting and boating as well as camping and cabins. Attractive habitat provides excellent wildlife viewing for hikers, birders and touring bicyclists. Miami State Recreation Area (SRA), Red Bridge SRA w/marina, Frances Slocum SRA and Pearson Mill SRA are managed by DNR.

mississinewa lake state park, Mississinewa Lake is located southeast of Peru, south of Wabash and northwest of Marion in Miami, Wabash and Grant counties. Hunting opportunities are available for fox squirrel, cottontail rabbit, deer, bobwhite quail, mourning dove, woodcock, snipe, sora rail, fox and coyote. Waterfowl hunting is available on ponds, marshes, river and the lake. The Indiana State Parks system manages 24 state parks and seven small satellite locations, eight reservoir properties, two state forest recreation areas, and two off-road riding areas. Collectively, Indiana State Park properties manage more than 2,000 buildings, 700 miles of trails, 636 hotel/lodge rooms, 17 marinas, 75 launching ramps, 17 swimming pools, 15 beaches, 7,701 campsites, more than ... Fireworks, car shows, living history, reenactments, volunteer days, fishing derbies…there's a special event for nearly every age and taste at state park and reservoir properties.
